With our new community annexe complete we have a number of spaces availble for hire by community groups and local people.

The Community Room

This room is an open multi-purpose space that you can set up as you wish. It can easily seat 30-40 people depending on layout.

It is glazed around the outside offering lots of natural light and warmth from modern underfloor heating.

The Cafe  Space

Set up for the cafe during the day, this space can be used in an evening, but users must put it back as they found it. It will comfortably host 40 people depending on layout.

It can also be combined with the community room through opening up a partitian wall to create a much larger event space able to host 70-80 people comfortably.

The Garden Room.

A small meeting room.

Comfortably seating 10 and able to seat up to 16 people, with large glazed windows it offers peacful views across the churchyard.

Chairs and a round table are available and go-pack tables can be added.

The Church Nave

comfortably seating 120 and at a push up to 200 as an auditorium, the nave can be used for events such as choral or musical performances.

It can also be used to host e.g. a larger wedding reception if the Annexe is unavailable

A sound system and AV system are availble at an additional cost.

Note that there is an expectation that users set up and set down the space themselves, but this can be done for an additional cost.

The Top floor

A large open space that could easily seat 40 people or be used for indoor sports and activities.

Owing to the age of the building there is no lift, nor is it possible to put a lift in to provide disability access, which is up two flights of stairs.

The Middle Floor

A smaller community room up stairs with use of a small kitchenette. It can host around 25 people.

Facilities

The annexe has 5 toilets including an accessible toilet.

With commercial standard kitchen, we will be able to offer hospitality once we are fully up and running.

Being a modern and efficient space it is warm and light and user friendly

Room Hire Policy

The principle of hiring out our rooms is about blessing our community in Jesus name, acting with integrity before God, stewarding our resources wisely and protecting the church as trustees.

rentals are open to all organisations and people in the community, unless such group/event is would :

  1. bring the church into disrepute
  2. would be in a direct conflict with our Christian ethos and beliefs.

Policy

When hiring a room at St George’s community annexe, there should be no expectation that church members should be required to set up or set down and rooms should be left as they are found.

Chairs and tables will be available, but must be wiped down and put back where they started.

Cleaning equipment and cloths will be available in the… ‘sluice room'.

If toilets have been used, they should also be left as they were found.

Any set up, set down and tidy up time is included in the period of rental. If additional time is required, additional rental fees may be charged, especially if someone is waiting to use the room.

If the room/equipment is left in an unclean/untidy state, a cleaning fee/set down fee may be charged

Catering may be provided at a cost depending on availability of staff.  At the end of the session, all crockery, etc. should be tidied away and left by the kitchen.

If the room is used when the church would otherwise be locked (i.e. late afternoon/ evenings) an open up/lock up fee will be charged.

In the event of clashes, room booking on a first come first served would take priority except in exceptional circumstances. However, if a group wishes to utilise a room for a half day or full day on a one-off basis, it may be that a regular hire would be requested to utilise a different room at no extra cost. Certain seasonal events put on at St George’s would take priority over other regular hires.

Any group acting commercially would be expected to have its own insurance and policies, including safeguarding (where appropriate) and Health and Safety.

Other groups, without their own policies, agree to follow the policies and procedures of St George’s church.
